Historical phases

A 3D reconstruction was made for three moments in time: 1625, 1680 and 1890. Three phases were considered an attainable goal within the available time and budget. The choice of these time slices resulted from various discussions with the project group, which included the academic researchers, Amsterdam municipial archaeologists and exhibition makers from the Jewish museum. It is partly motivated by the occurence of important physical transitions, and partly by the availabilty of good visual documentary sources (maps, depictions). The consequence of these choices is that important historical phases are omitted, most obviously the 18th century. Also the most recent, post-war phase is not represented in the model.
