Amsterdam develops at an explosive pace. The wood traders neighbourhood on the edge of the city shifted into a bustling inner city district with a large immigrant population. The neighbourhood also changes physically, with new houses, fashionable gable styles and also other buildings such as synagogues, and a large orphanage.
