The picture below, dated to the early 1980s, shows construction in progress. All old buildings have now been demolished, and foundations for the new structures are starting to rise. Also visible on this picture, curving across the construcion site, is the trajectory of the tunnel for the new subway line. It now has a station below the new city hall.
