2.8c SOURCES: 3D Interpretation of the Double Horreum

The 3D reconstruction of the double horreum is derived from a mixture of primary and secondary sources. Panhuysen’s (1996) descriptions of the varied excavations that took place for the building and the illustration of the wall’s construction façade and profile provide the primary source data. The accompanying double of the building as well as the upper sections, roof and entrance are hypothetical conjecture based on discussions with city archaeologists and visual references from contemporary sites across the empire, such as Housesteads in the UK and the Saalburg physical fort reconstruction in Germany (see images below).
