Exploring UM's History Through Objects
This collection is part of a broader commemorative initiative marking Maastricht University’s 50th anniversary in 2026. Officially founded on 9 January 1976 with the signing of the founding charter by Queen Juliana, the university has since grown into an internationally recognized institution. To reflect on its development and identity, a selection of historically significant objects has been assembled for both physical and digital presentation.
The collection features objects that narrate the university’s past, supporting both long-term preservation and public engagement. By translating archival and material culture into digital form, the project encourages users to explore institutional history through interactive, object-centered experiences.
