Another theory is that Frosch lamps originally originated in Upper Egypt, a center of worship for the frog goddess Heket, who was associated with birth, creation, and the sprouting of grain. She is usually depicted as a woman with the head of a frog or simply as a frog. Archaeological findings show that there were Egyptian oil lamps from the 4th to 6th centuries featuring a crafted frog. This shape is believed to resemble that of the Frosch lamp later used in mining.
