Tour 2 - Conclusion

As is clear from the small selection of titles presented here and as discussed more thoroughly in the monograph, this collection was a multi-generation endeavour which represents the accumulated knowledge of a regent family in Amsterdam at that time. De Graeff’s library, a microcosm of seventeenth century knowledge, served as a portal to different times and places. It allowed the exploration of various locations and historical periods, linking this room in an Amsterdam canal house and its occupants to a wider global context.

Would you like to know more about the 3D reconstruction of this room and which sources I used to create this reconstruction hypothesis?
