Because of its enormous importance as a source for Mesoamerican studies, the Codex Cospi has been studied by many scholars during the 20th and 21st centuries. Several facsimiles have also been published: in 1898 a chromolithographic facsimile was made by the Danesi brothers in Rome, followed by several photographic ones.
In 2005, the research project that led to the scientific analysis of the MOLAB was launched, and in 2020 the high-resolution photographs of the codex were made freely available on the website of the Biblioteca Universitaria di Bologna. Research and dissemination initiatives are constantly increasing, as shown by the 3D digital edition you are looking at.
