During the digitization process of the wizard figurine, we have encountered a few difficulties. As seen in the model and the annotations you will be directed to after reading this article, there are a few signs of pixelated and discoloured areas around both hands. The reason why both hands still look like this is because the model did not seem to be capable of smoothing out the surface and adding the same kind of colour to fill it. The grey areas on the hand are because of wear and tear over the years, the figurine has been in the possession of Marisa since 2004 and has been used.
The second annotation that you will be directed to after reading this article is the feet. We had problems within Metashape to align only one pair of feet to the remaining of the wizard. We became aware of the fact that the wizard had two pairs of feet as we used a cluster of photos to align two different pairs of feet. We solved it by figuring out which cluster of photos belonged together and extracting those photos into two separate folders. After eliminating which cluster of photos would not work regarding our model we managed to apply the correct cluster of photos at the bottom of the wizard, align them with the model and merge it. The feet and eyebrows were used from the bottom view of the figurine as showcased below but they had a different colour from the other model. Additionally, we had a lot of trouble aligning both models as one seemed much bigger than the other. Lots of pixels in the hat and feet had to be deleted to create a final smooth version.
