This project is part of the course Creating Digital Collections of the MA Media Studies: Digital Cultures at Maastricht University.
Hey! I’m Menglu, one of the authors of this project and a Media studies master student at Maastricht University. Originally, I am from China and my hometown is Nanjing, located in the southeast of China. I pursued my bachelor’s degree in journalism at Southwest University in China where I learned how to understand, research and produce journalism. I further enhanced my skills through internships at some Chinese newspapers and magazine companies. After graduation, I ventured into corporate communication jobs for a couple of years. This experience eventually led me to decide to explore the societal impact of digital media and pursue my master's studies in the Netherlands.
And I’m Yule, the other author! I grew up in two countries, the Netherlands and Germany, as my hometown spans across the international Eurode region. The (media-)cultural differences between the two countries have always fascinated me, but my undergraduate studies ultimately ended up being in English language and literature at Utrecht University. Only after graduating with a minor in new media communication, and feeling the lingering fascination with everything that makes and breaks communication, did I consider doing a master’s degree in the field of media and social sciences at Maastricht University.
