In an attempt to capture the underside of the model, we attempted to use the method of upside-down capturing in floral foam. The idea was to render the upright pictures and the upside-down pictures separately in Metashape, before merging them together.
What we forgot to consider, however, was that the figurine has moving parts. Upon turning the model upside down, the arms, ears and tail had moved and thus created issues with the merging.
The resulting model had twice the number of arms, ears and tail, making it reminiscent of this evocative poem by Laura Gilpin (2004):
