A Journey From the Start

My Little Pony is a toy line and media franchise, developed by American toy company Hasbro. The history started in 1981, when Hasbro launched My Pretty Pony, a line of pony toys with brushable manes. Within a year, in 1982, they were renamed to My Little Pony. Soon after,  their vibrant universe soon got the children’s attention all around the world. The franchise later expanded from toys to the series of cartoons, movies, and video games.

My Little Pony appeared on big screen in 1986 with My Little Pony: The Movie, featuring an all-star voice talent cast including Danny DeVito, Madeline Kahn, Cloris Leachman, Rhea Perlman, and Tony Randall. Ponies followed on television later in 1986 in My Little Pony 'n Friends, the first in a series of animated television shows. In 1992, My Little Pony Tales introduced a new cast of characters, with the ponies as teenagers and experiencing their ordinary  life like sweet meetups and holidays.

Most of the newer fans, however, are used to knowing the franchise best in the form of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic series, which first hit the screens way back in 2010. The series changed the setting from Ponyland to Ponyville and presented a core cast of six ponies, led by Twilight Sparkle - a unicorn later upgraded into an Alicorn princess.  Over the years, My Little Pony has continued to change, but its captivating magic still resonates strongly. Whether Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, or Pinkie Pie, every one of them has their fans' favorites across all ages. The saga did not end there, however, as more versions of the show and new characters have come out since, but more on that later! For now, get a quick glimpse of the ponyville map by going to the next step.
