Lili
Hey! I'm Lili, and together with Imran, we worked on bringing the 3D model of the doll closer to you.
A big part of my childhood was spent at my grandma's old house. Big, with a colorful garden and an endless amount of boxes, shelves, and rooms to explore. My grandma let me go through all her little knick-knacks and trinkets, allowing me to discover old magazines, toys, fabric scraps, buttons, and so much more. As I grew older, she eventually started sending me her trinkets in the mail so I could have them and take care of them. In one of the boxes were three little dolls, one of which you can get to know better through this project. Being able to work with the doll, getting a closer look at her, and researching her background allowed me to transport back into my grandma's big house with boxes filled with little treasures.
The process of 3D capturing, researching, and creating a whole tour was an awesome experience. I hope you've enjoyed the tour, and I encourage you to think about one toy from your childhood that brings back tons of priceless memories.
Imran
Hi! My name is Imran, and I worked with Lili throughout this frustrating process.
I always thought about how impressive things from the past have evolved into a new format while still being very similar. I remember growing up surrounded by porcelain Disney princess dolls and Barbies in Belgium, but playing with chiffon and handmade dolls back in my village in Turkey. People in my home villages always relied on handmade items. My room is full of old furniture from where I am from and other things that were made decades before I was born. It always clashes with the trendy items that I have, such as Sonny Angels. I lived out the different waves of toys: from various types of dolls to video games and the Nintendo, and now, I sometimes use my iPad to play games and collect trinket dolls.
It was fun to recreate a 3D model of a porcelain doll and interesting to read the different literature that has contributed to these tours. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I did!
