Eyela is a well loved and admired elf, she is surrounded by a large group of friends and creatures that support and spend time with her. The world of Bayala is made up of many interesting characters, all having unique qualities and features. All of these relationships are explained with each Schleich® toy set (Schleich GmbH, n.d). Through further deep diving into the Bayala world many of the relationships can be discovered.
Feya:
Feya is Eyela’s best friend, she is known for having unwavering optimism. She is always positive and her presence makes the people around her happier too. Feya is known as the prettiest of all the fairies. She spends lots of time making sure she looks good and never leaves the house without her hairbrush and mirror.
Sera and Surah:
Eyela has two sisters; the twins Sera and Surah. Sera knows everything about plants, she spends her time exploring the kingdom in search of plants with undiscovered powers. This skill makes her valuable in Bayala as a healer and decorator. Surah has a more tragic story: she was kidnapped at a young age by the queen of the shadow elves and held captive for most of her childhood in the shadow realm. Growing up there caused her wings to develop differently to other sun elves. She is therefore sometimes treated like an outsider by her own people.
Animals:
All of these elves also have horse-like companions. They have either a unicorn, pegasus or a combination animal; a unicornpegasus. They are all said to have very meaningful relationships with their animals, the horses being their key to adventure and freedom. It also shows that the elves that are central in these storylines are more privileged than most, as having a unicorn or pegasus is not the norm in Bayala.
Surah also has a parrot Kuack, this is her main important animal companion. Surah is barely ever without him, she has also had him since she was kidnapped, this has led them to develop a very close bond.
In some stories there are also dragons, it is said that these are the source of Bayala’s magic. When no new dragons are born the elves will be left without magic.
