Digitising E.T. was a truly fulfilling experience. It was exciting to finally develop practical skills during this master’s program. Despite the challenges and stress of photogrammetry and building the model in Metashape, we thoroughly enjoyed the process. Striving for perfection was tempting as we wanted E.T. to look as cute as the toy in real life. His hands and feet were particularly difficult to perfect, but in the end, we are proud of the final model.
Transforming E.T. from a simple model to a full experience was a particularly satisfying process. It was very inspiring to give him a story that people could explore and experience in Voyager. Before this course, we had never looked at toys in such a meaningful way. But writing these stories taught us a lot about how toys are not just objects but can be a medium for interaction, emotion, and imagination. We came to understand that toys are not just about form and function, but also about the stories and experiences they evoke in the user.
As this is the end of the edition, they have picked up E.T. and brought him home.
