Once the 3D model is done, the next step is to plan the design of the tours and use Voyager's affordances. To do so, first, we have to decide on thematic tours. After careful consideration, we settled into feminism and consumerism as the two main topics. While writing the articles, we had to take a few steps back because the 3D model had to be the center of our argumentation. This way we can make use of all the affordances the Voyager has to offer like affordances, camera movements, media, and lights.
It is important to note that in the creation process of this edition, the creation itself was smoother than the creation of the model. Working on Voyager felt very intuitive and easier than Metashape. At the same time and as mentioned before, the model is an integral part of this work. While the creation of the model had its ups and downs, the model does not look like an accurate representation of the doll. The problems with the model are very visible and may take away part of this immersive experience as its flaws are very noticeable. Regardless, we worked on the rest of the edition and hoped that the camera movements and lights would help to hide some of the issues we were not able to fix in Metashape.
The creation of this scholarly edition of Pink Baby was a refreshing experience. Putting a simple object as a toy in context and adding more meaning to it, is an unforgettable experience. We intend to create a museum-like immersive experience that helps anyone interested in it to understand the importance of toys in our society and their meaning.
