Challenges of capturing Mickey

As this was out first time creating a 3D model, we encountered some challenges that we had to resolve during the process. The first set of challenges came during the photographing of the Mickey Mouse toy. As we see, Mickey is in a sitting position and his bottom area has not been captured. This is due the Mickey being a soft plush toy and attempting to capture his bottom area would have changed the toy’s position, and it would not have been possible to merge these sets of photos in Metashape later on. Making the toy be still in the sitting position that we see him in also required some extra tactics. To keep Mickey’s hands still, double sided tape was used, which stayed visible in the 3D model. During the capturing process it was also desirable to have Mickey Sitting in a 90 degree angle, yet due to how the toys weight distributed naturally, he ended up in a leaned back position. Not wanting to stick a metal wire into the toy and damaging it to have it sitting upright, we decided that the leaned back position would have to suffice.
