Typically, each Funko Pop comes in a small box with a clear plastic window that allows collectors to display their figurines while keeping them protected from dust and damage or transport them. This packaging is usually very important for collectors, almost as much as the figurine itself due to the multiple information displayed telling the story of the figure and the preferences by collectors of displaying both the figure and the box on a shelf. As Funko packaging designer Dustin Wagner stated, “Packaging is the first thing our fans see when they approach a shelf of Funko items” (Kennedy, 2023, §1). One of the first features that we might notice on the box is these circles of numbers in the left top corner. These represent the category or line that is part of a series and therefore are particularly important for collectors who want to continue a specific series. Furthermore, the graphics are usually vibrant colours and eye-catching, with incorporated images of the character to make it dynamic and appealing. Additionally, the box usually includes a windowpane or even a blister, providing a sneak peek at the figurine inside and allowing collectors to admire the details of the design without taking it out. The packaging also includes information such as the character's name, series, and sometimes a brief description and the serial number. The packaging of the Funko Pop figurines not only serves a practical purpose but is thus an iconic part of these pop culture figures (Kennedy, 2023).
