Voyager is the software we used to mediate the Dragon Rider to the audience with annotations, articles, and tours. The programme allows for an interactive experience for the audience. Voyager gives many different options for both editing and viewing text in a creative manner. This includes the option to write articles that include audio fragments, and other media like images and videos. For our own project we wrote about 16 articles that talked about the dragon, the company that created it and several societal issues such as gender stereotypes and orientalism.
Alongside these articles there are also annotations, which are points on the object we think are important and require further explanation. These annotations range from the wings and claws of the dragon to the weapons and clothes of the rider. Further, annotations and articles were then placed in designated tours that reflected the branch of content we wanted to highlight. This resulted in three content based tours: The Company behind the Dragon: Schleich, Dragons in Fiction and Mythology, and Gender and Cultural stereotypes. A tour consists of several steps that show off articles and annotations. They all include multimedia such as images and videos that further illustrate the arguments.
These tours are essential since they are the main way other people will experience our project. This means that we had to put a lot of thought into different camera angles, appropriate pictures and even consider the length of the articles to ensure people would not lose interest while reading.
